THE DATA DUGOUT.

A blog for random (and sometimes useful) baseball data science.

Welcome to the Data Dugout. I am an Aerospace Engineer and a closeted baseball stats nerd - well, until now I guess. This site is a collection of data-driven projects born from curiosity and a love for the beautiful weirdness of baseball.

Why baseball? Because no other sport has stayed so stubbornly the same for over a century and obsessively kept logs of almost every little detail during that time. We have a treasure trove of baseball data that's publically accessible thanks in large part to meticulous scorekeepers and websites like retrosheet.com. Think of this site as part portfolio, part blog - home to data visualization, statistical deep dives, and machine learning experiments, all rooted in America's favorite pastime. Whether you're a fellow baseball nerd like me or just someone who appreciates interesting stories and data, I hope you find something here that surprises you. Play Ball!
